How did you meet? 

The date that almost wasn’t. We met on Tinder – the initial conversation was sparked as I had seen Blake play basketball against my ex-boyfriend at the time almost a year prior.

A week’s worth of flirty messaging went by, and we both decided it might be worth meeting up for a drink. At the time Blake was working late nights and had pushed the time back to 10pm on a Friday night, ultimately making me decide that his intentions were totally dishonourable – I questioned even turning up for a drink.

But thinking of his basketball skills and remembering that he was 6ft 4, I persevered and took the plunge to meet him. We clicked immediately! 5 hours and one kiss on a doorstep later and we were head over heels.

When and where did you get married?

Saturday 14 December 2019, Old Forest School (near Tauranga)

What was the theme/aesthetic of your big day?

Modern, clean, monochromatic. Overall I wanted everything to be timeless.

What was the biggest source of inspiration while planning your wedding?

Definitely Instagram - I just looked at the feeds of other women who had recently been married and got inspiration from their themes, dresses and decor.

The most memorable moment from your day: 

Reading our vows. We wrote them ourselves and didn't reveal them until the big day so was so special to hear Blake's vows for the first time. I loved sharing our promises to each other in front of everyone we love.

The biggest hit on the dance floor was:

Every song was a floor filler! Blake looked after our playlist and briefing our DJ and his love for music, both old school and modern, was perfect for our wedding guests across the generations. I had to change into my chucks because I was dancing so much!

We honeymooned in: 

Bali! We left on the Monday after the wedding and spent 8 days in Uluwatu and Seminyak. It was the best holiday of our lives, we could not have had a better time. The timing was also amazing as we got married in mid December so went straight from our wedding, into our honeymoon, then home for Christmas and New Years with our family and friends.

Did you always have an idea in mind of what you wanted your dress to look like?

Yes! I always thought I wanted a princess style dress but I knew that Blake would prefer me in something more form fitting. And as I got older and my tastes and body both changed, I opted for a dress that is completely different to what I had always imagined walking down the aisle in. I have no regrets though - it was the most perfect dress and made me feel like a movie star.
